The Culture of North Korea
North Korea's culture is singular and concise. It is built around only one main belief, Juche, a select amount of activities, and a few other cultural determinants. Because of the current political situation in North Korea, any other cultures are frowned upon, and even punished. Even the production of literature and art is closely monitored by the ruling party. The mere fact that North Korea produces such a small amount of culture means that what is produced, often represents the country as a whole. Their culture may be recognized by:
- The Workers Party's literature: The Shrine for a Tutelary Deity, a theatrical rendition of The Flower Girl, Three Men, One Party, A Letter from a Daughter, and Hyolbun mangukhoe
- The Korean Revolutionary Opera
- Varying North Korean propaganda
- Impressive architecture and city planning, including the Ryugyong Hotel
- The de-militarized zone separating North and South Korea
